CREA’s official statement clarifying false claims

On July 15, 2025, the University of Barcelona published a communication about the research network CREA. Some individuals and groups are spreading the claim that 11 people have filed a formal complaint against Ramón Flecha for sexual coercion.

It is not true. None of them has filed a formal complaint either in court or at the University of Barcelona.

What is true is the following: There is a complaint of a lawyer who reported alleged inappropriate behaviours in representation of 11 alleged victims. The university decided to start a preliminary initiation process to gather information about this case. While this is an unusual situation, in order to clarify the first information CREA decided to continue with this preliminary information process.

We have written proofs that all the allegations from each of the alleged victims are false, as well as written proof about the factors driving the defamation campaign (isolating gender violence) against CREA and its founder. We have published an infographic on this same website that briefly explains the situation.

The alleged victims of those who hide behind anonymity are indeed filing complaints against them in court. We consider it will be sufficiently proven that the anonymous accusers are revictimizing their alleged victims and committing isolating gender-based violence against those who supported them.
